Chinmaya felicitates Super Senior Citizens

The Secretary Social Welfare Department Smt.Rashmi Singh has said that we should respect all the elders in the society as we are respecting our own  parents. Smt. Rashmi Singh was speaking  after felicitating the super senior citizens at Chinmaya Mission Auditorium. The programme was organized by Chinmaya Mission on the  occasion  of international elders day. Shri B. Eshwar Rao, Chairperson, PBMC,  Smt. Sheela Singh Ex Chairperson PBMC and Shri M.S.Malhotra also graced the function.

Smt. Singh said that elders   must get  due respect and care in the family and society. Smt.Singh also informed various  laws  made by Govt.of  India  for the  welfare and protection of senior citizens.

She said that the  upcoming day care  centre for  senior citizens  at Chinmaya  Mission would be a great help to them. Acharya Anand Purusharthi  a vedic scholar from Hoshagabad,  said that we have to  live with peace and harmony. He said  that  having sharp intellect is just not enough  but,  we have to try to   purify our mind and thoughts.

The resident acharya of Chinmaya Mission Swami Shuddhananda Saraswati while welcoming the  gathering informed  about the  construction of Day Care Centre. Shri  Braj Mohan Bhatt informed about the various activities of Chinmaya Mission. Shri Manohar Singh, working president Chinmaya Vanprastha Sansthan proposed the vote of thanks. Dr R.N. Prasad read out the citation of the Super Senior Citizens. Shri Shiva a Balvihar student  presented a Bhajan, while  Smt. Anita Puria coordinated the  programme.

Super  Senior Citizens Shri Gopal  Shankaran, Shri Hilarus Balra, Shri Jai Narayan Singh, Capt.  Kundan Lal Mahajan, Shri Manoranjan Bhattacharjee, Shri P.V.V.Subarmanian, Smt. Sarla Puri, Shri Shardhananda, Shri Subba Reddiyar, Smt.Sudarshan Sharma and Smt. V.R. Nalinakhshi were felicitated by Smt.Rashmi Singh and Acharya Anand Purusharthi by offering shawl and mementos.

In the morning at 6.30 am a Walkathon for senior citizens (60 and above) was organized from Gandhi Park to Mission. Inspite of Heavy downpour 20 senior citizens  participated in the walkathon. IGP Andaman and Nicobar Islands Shri N.S. Bundela and Shri M.S. Malhotra flagged of Walkathon. Shri Hari Charan, Dr . R.N. Prasad and  Shri R.N. Acharya got the  first, second and third  prize  respectively.
