“GENOCIDE IN TIBET ? WHAT THE WORLD SHOULD DO ?”
A symposium on “Genocide in Tibet- what the world should do ?”, was organized by federation of Human Rights Organizations of India (now known as HRDI ) was organized on Mar 28 , 2007 at the C.K.Daphtary block, Supreme Court of India.
Several practicing advocates, Former Judges, Professors, Tibet lovers, social activists were present in a well attended gathering addressed by Sh. J.M.Mukhi, International Law scholar and Advocate, Supreme Court and Sh. Vijay Kranti , senior columnist and a tibetologist and others.
Adv. Mukhi presented a paper titled ‘ GENOCIDE IN TIBET ; WHAT THE WORLD SHOULD DO ? – The right to Self – Determination of Tibet and International Responsibility ‘ . Sh. Vijay Kranti discussed a paper titled ‘CHINESE OCCUPATION OF TIBET & IMPACT ON INDIAN SECURITY ‘.
Justice S.K.Agarwal, former justice Delhi High Court was the guest of honour.
Almost all the speakers and many in the audience voiced full solidarity with the Tibetan movement, denounced the recent Chinese action and also expressed outrage over the weak kneed policy of Govt. of India. A resolution was passed unanimously during the meeting demanding an immediate end of violence, immediate dispatch of independent fact finding teams to Tibet and immediate release of all imprisoned Tibetans.
The Tibetan movement was represented by Ms. Youdon Aukatsang and Acharya Yeshi Phuntsuk , and other Members of Tibetan Parliament in exile.
Sh. Rajesh Gogna , convener of the federation conducted the symposium and assured the support of Human Rights Activists and social organizations to the cause of Tibet.
