Kedah MIC upset over Nik Aziz’s insult of Hindus

PADANG SERAI – Kedah MIC has accused PAS Spiritual Leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat of having insulted Hindus when he likened the payment of the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) to giving fodder to cows, regarded as sacred in Hinduism.

Its chairman, S Ananthan, said Hindus most regretted that the Kelantan menteri besar had linked the BR1M payment to cows.

Nik Aziz should not have belittled the federal government aid which the people appreciated, he said.

At a ‘ceramah’ (talk) in Kota Baharu recently, Nik Abdul Aziz reportedly criticised the BR1M and said it was similar to giving fodder to chickens and cows.

“Datuk Nik Aziz should understand that as a community development supervisor at one time he had also received his salary from the same (federal) government,” he told Bernama after meeting recipients of BR1M in the Lunas state constituency at the hall of Sekolah Menengah Keladi near here.

Ananthan, who is the coordinator for the constituency, said 10,622 individuals and households in Lunas had received the BR1M.
