Bombing in southern Pakistan kills two

A bomb has killed at least two people in a village in an area of southern Pakistan frequently hit by violence, a senior police official said on Thursday.

Fayyaz Sunmbol, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in Quetta, said the blast that occurred on Thursday morning in the village of Kuchlak also wounded five people.

The village is about 22 km from Quetta, which is the capital of Baluchistan province.

Mr. Sunmbol said authorities were investigating whether it was a roadside bomb or a suicide bomber.

Baluchistan has been beset by violence from multiple groups. Baluch separatists often attack Pakistani military and government targets while Sunni Muslim extremist groups have repeatedly killed Shiite Muslims living in the region.

Many members of the Afghan Taliban also make their base in the province.
