India will be standby for 2014 World T20

India is ready to accommodate a few matches to help Bangladesh host next year’s ICC World T20 in time, said the interim president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India Jagmohan Dalmiya.

“If Bangladesh is not able to meet the deadline for getting the four venues ready — Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Mirpur and Chittagong — ready by August then we are there to help them by giving them some stand-bye venues,” Mr. Dalmiya said here on Thursday after returning from the annual conference of the International Cricket Council in London. He said that two new venues – Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet – may not be able to meet the deadline and in that case India is ready to host some matches of the upcoming tournament.

“We look at this situation with sympathy and are not rejoicing at their problem. We can definitely stand for our neighbour if we are given advance information for any support needed,” he said.

Looking ahead to India hosting a series of top cricket tournaments in the next 10 years, Mr. Dalmiya said it was good news for Indian cricket.
