Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat addresses G20 Employment Working Group in Jodhpur

Union Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat called upon members of the international community to strive together to make meaningful progress in creating more opportunities for decent work and inclusive growth for all people.

Mr. Shekhawat was addressing the G20 Employment Working Group in Jodhpur today, February 3. He extended a warm welcome to all delegates. Mr. Shekhawat said as the world’s second most populous country, India believes that it has a vital role to play in shaping the future of employment and in driving inclusive growth.

Our robust democracy and our diversity, gives us the unique perspective and strength to bring together a wide range of voices and ideas. Addressing the press conference after the meeting, Mr Shekhawat said that in the changed global scenario after Covid, India has got an opportunity to chair the G-20.

There is 100% participation of delegates from member nations, invitee countries and various international organisations. He said that the scenario of employment has changed rapidly due to the increasing use of technology in every sector.

The issue of How to prepare skilled manpower according to the new needs is being discussed in the meeting. He said that there are many countries where there is more work but a shortage of skilled workers. If training is given to the youth according to their skill, then countries like India can benefit from it.

Different Sessions on skills and other issues are being organised today in the meeting.  A presentation on the Indian presidential agenda was also presented in the meeting. In the evening, a cultural evening has been organized at Mehran Garh Fort.
